Capturing Beauty in Watercolours
About the Artist:
Joy Griffin is a watercolour artist with a passion for capturing the beauty of the world through the delicate strokes of her brushes. Her journey as an artist has spanned decades, filled with diverse experiences that have shaped her unique artistic perspective.
Joy’s love affair with art began during her school years when she first discovered her innate talent and fascination for painting. Despite the practicalities of life leading her down different paths, she never abandoned her artistic spirit. Over the years, she honed her skills through various short courses, always nurturing her deep-seated love for the craft. She has more recently connected with the Victorian Artist Society attending classes and exhibitions there.
Inspired by Van Gogh
A transformative moment in Joy’s artistic evolution occurred during a visit to the Van Gogh Gallery in Amsterdam during her twenties. The vivid and emotionally charged works of Vincent van Gogh left an indelible mark on her. She found herself drawn to the expressive power of colour and the ability of art to convey profound emotions.
Rediscovery of Passion
Now, Joy has returned to her passion of watercolour painting. With a lifetime of experiences and an enduring connection to the art world, she is bringing a renewed vigour to her work. Her watercolour creations evoke a sense of nostalgia, combining the tranquillity of the medium with the wisdom that comes with age.
Joy’s art is a celebration of life's simple joys, inspired by nature, travel, and the human experience. Her watercolours resonate with a timeless quality, inviting viewers to pause and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us, even in the smallest details.
