A ship once sailed with purpose and pride, Now abandoned, left to the ocean's tide, A rusting relic of days gone by, a haunting symbol of a sailor's sigh. The Redbird was initially built as the SS Beechdale in England in 1884 and was later sold to an Australian shipping company in 1905 and renamed the Redbird. It continued to be used for coastal transport in Australia until it sank near the Hasting Jetty in 1911. Today, the Redbird wreck lies in shallow water, about 100 meters from the Hasting Jetty. The wreck is partially buried in sand, and its bow section is still visible above the waterline at low tide. It is an important historical site protected under Victoria's Heritage Act.
