Pencil is great to create preliminary sketches for paintings or other media, and you can do sketches in graphite for its own sake. But graphite pencil can give you more options beyond just a sketch. Learning advanced techniques will take your graphite drawings from rough and preliminary scribbles to refined and creative drawings.
This term we will focus on graphite pencil only. Using a variety of still life objects with supporting photographic references we will explore different ways to create tone, texture, and line with our pencils. We will experiment creating realistic tonal renders and then branch out into more fanciful and creative concepts. From realistic to abstract our drawings will not be boring!
We would like to pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land on which our building stands, their leaders, past, present and emerging.
